PLITVICE LAKES

Set in central Croatia, the forest reserve features a chain of 16 terraced lakes joined by waterfalls that extend into a limestone canyon. Walkers will delight at the hiking trails that wind around and across the waterways. Meanwhile the less energetic can take in the 12 upper and four lower lakes by boat and visit the Veliki Slap waterfall, towering nearly 80 metres high.
