A LEGACY OF ELEGANCE AND ARTISTRY
A Luxurious Villa
Built in 1836, the southern part of the hotel began as a luxurious villa before transforming into Caffé Principe Umberto in 1898, honoring the visit of King Umberto of Italy.
The Vision of Carl Seidl
In 1908, renowned Viennese architect Carl Seidl redesigned the villa, expanding it into the elegant landmark seen today. The transformation was completed in 1910.
Artistry by Karl Ludwig Hassmann
In 1924, a dance hall was added, featuring Greek mythology frescoes by Viennese painter Karl Ludwig Hassmann. Today, this masterpiece houses Restaurant Argonauti, preserving its artistic grandeur.
