About Opatija

We welcome you to Opatija, an Adriatic tourist resort entrenched with the character and charm of the Habsburg era, made popular by 19th century Austro-Hungarian nobility.

From the very first glimpse, Opatija in Croatia’s Kvarner region leaves a picture-perfect impression, with its charming Habsburg period villas positioned along the glittering coastline, preserved in time amongst the lush greenery of manicured parks and botanical gardens.

Opatija opened its doors to tourism in 1844 with the erection of the first historic villa, and under Habsburg reign became firmly established as a winter holiday destination for aristocracy and the wealthy. With its mild Mediterranean climate, Opatija also developed into wellness and spa oasis.

Opatija is a city geared for walking and easy leisure. The famous 12km-long coastal promenade Lungomare, overlooking Kvarner Gulf, offers many historic and natural sights. It is surrounded by an abundance of green space, forests, the Učka mountain range, beautiful beaches and the Kvarner islands.

Would you rather settle for the luxury of five stars on a combined business and leisure trip? In the Habsburg tradition, our iconic Amadria Park Milenij in Opatija’s centre, with its perfectly manicured garden and seafront setting, promises you exactly that. We invite you to enjoy these classical, picturesque surrounds.

Intellectual appeal

Do games of logic and intellect appeal to you? Or getting caught up in a good book? Decorated with original artworks and sculptures, our Royal Club Cafe and library invites you in. For The kids

For children, we have a playground right next door to Grand 4 Opatijska Cvijeta. This is your chance to enjoy a long coffee. Whilst there, you can treat the family, and yourself, to our iconic cakes and pastries. Or our slightly irresistable hand-made chocolates by Milenij Choco World.

Enchanting vibe

Can you picture yourself in this fairy tale-like setting in the centre of Opatija? If the 19th century feel appeals to you, you’ll find it in this hotel. This 1896-built former Villa Habsburg is now our majestic, period-style Amadria Park Agava. Agava is surrounded by carefully-tended botanical gardens, designed over a century ago, for you to enjoy today.

True to orign

True to original design and decor, our rooms are furnished as period classics. A total renovation in 2006 saw all 76 rooms kept intact, and despite being modernised, we put a lot of love and care into maintaining its authenticity, retaining its charm and personality both inside and out.

Views of blue or green

In the spirit of the former Villa Habsburg you’ll also notice extra wide hallways. The building aspect was designed so that you can enjoy exceptional views of the sea or greenery from your room. Many rooms offer balconies with magical views of Kvarner Bay.
